the poster session

Most of us (from the monday english class) came to the poster session today although nothing was compulsory in it. I think we were all curious to see what kind of posters our friends did and how such sessions take place. (or was it for the free biscuits and juice?)
I thought it would be nice to have some pictures of that particular day on the blog so I took my camera with me. With our note book and a pen, we strolled among the visitors reading the posters that interested us and asking a few questions.
All the posters were very different from one another treating a large range of scientific subjects. Those which were very colorful illustrated with pictures and charts had a lot of people gathered around. It is true that good posters attracts the eye and make you want to read them.
Some posters however contained long paragraphs of information. We were reluctant to have a look at them but being polite, we did all go. I stayed a few minutes forcing myself to read a few sentences but got bored very quickly although the content of theses posters was interesting.
Our teacher, asked questions too, but her job was different, she had to mark the work of our friends. I think she was happy that we could manage to come. (you can have a closer look at the poster by clicking on the picture)
I especially like the poster below because of the model of the movie projector at the bottom. Because of this small gadget, many people went to ask questions to Remy and Jonathan (the two guys who made the poster) maybe out of curiosity or because we could play with it.
In the 3SR laboratory where I work on a small project, there are posters that have been used during conferences all over the walls. I have to say that my M1 physics collegues did posters as good as those found there.
Here are some very good posters of today’s session. I did not put all of them because there were so many and some pictures were unfortunately blurred.

P.S. One short reminder is that the names of languages (such as English) and the days of the week (Monday) take a capital letter. This is often forgotten by French speakers. Your style is very enjoyable to read. Great work!

You did a great job and your blog/work is interesting and fun to read. It is also an interactive way of doing a courselog and, as you say, it might be easier and more motivating for some students to do so than on paper. Food for thought….
